Beheren, a cross-sectarian anti-Vietnam War movement in Japan, ultimately failed to achieve its primary goal or prevent the decline of the Japanese left.
However, it serves as a reminder of the potential of grassroots activism, especially in politically apathetic climates.

The Beheren ultimately represents, to me at least, another side of the activism of the 60s, an attempt to move away from the intense sectarianism that often defined radical activism At the time. It was not ultimately successful in bringing about peace or stopping the wider decline of the Japanese left, but it does serve as an important reminder of the potential of grassroots Activism in
